06.3.2024 – 4.40 pm: There are 4 new urban buses presented to the press by the Mayor and the operating director of the Miccolis company, Vito Marinelli. It was explained that a further twenty will be added to the 23 previously presented and the current ones, arriving between 2024 and 2025, many of which will be electric, purchased through the use of Pnrr funds. These are vehicles with ‘Euro 6’ Step E diesel engines, equipped for the transport of people with disabilities who use wheelchairs; they have 9 seats and 15 standing. The place chosen for the presentation was the car park in Viale dell’Unicef, in the center of the ‘Santa Lucia’ escalator system, precisely because it is considered a strategic hub for city mobility.
It was decided, also from this perspective, to make it more attractive from the point of view of public greenery, by creating a garden and starting the planting of a vertical forest. The latter will be housed on the green grid that delimits the car park along Unicef Avenue, while the garden partially covers the area of the plant that passes above the roadway. Over 1,600 plants for an extensive hanging garden, which occupies an area of 360 square meters and is self-sufficient from a water point of view, with a rainwater collection system in special tanks, which guarantees periodic irrigation.
