PADUA «I grabbed it by her knees and lifted her over the railing.” Thus in the first interrogation in front of the men of the Traffic Police and the Padua Flying Squad Andrea Favero confessed that he was the one who threw him off the overpass on the A4 his partner Giada Zanola. A confession which, however, she retracted during the interrogation in front of the prosecutor Giorgio Falcone, speaking of a memory lapse about what happened at the time, it was 3.30 in the night between last Tuesday and Wednesday, he was with his partner on the overpass.
The sit
Favero’s partial admission is contained in the so-called sit (summary testimonial information) which cannot be used as evidence in a future trial, but which they certainly constitute an important piece of evidence included in the documents and contained in the precautionary custody order in prison. Favero, in the subsequent interrogation in prison, continued to remain silent, making use of the right not to answer, in the presence of a new trusted lawyer, after having revoked the office of the official lawyer.
The reconstruction
That night Andrea Favero and his partner were together on the bridge and according to his first version after the argument he would have grabbed her by the knees while they were both on the step, about 80 centimeters high, of the parapet and from here he would have raised it to the remaining height of the railing. Another meter or so. Then Giada fell from a height of 15 metres. The body was first dodged by some passing cars and then devastated from a moving truck.
Favero, however, does not say anything about Giada’s condition: whether she was alert and or unconscious at that moment, due to the effect of drugs or narcotic substances. However, the autopsy found that she was still alive. To check whether he was under the influence of substances, however, we will have to wait for the results of the toxicological test which will be known in about a month.
