The Trentino cycle route network is divided into twelve itineraries that extend for approximately 460 km which in 2023 recorded almost 3 million passages, corresponding to approximately 60 million kilometers cycled (+4% compared to 2022 and +13% compared to 2021 ).
In addition to representing a broad cycle tourism proposal, the network also constitutes an important offer for the daily mobility of residents – who use it to go to work, to school, to run errands – and tourists, who use it to move between the various points of interest in the area.

It is not the first time that Trentino has been awarded for the quality of its cycling tourism proposals: in nine editions of the competition, in fact, a Trentino cycle path has been awarded the Green Road Awards seven times.

The Flower Cycle Route
The Green Road of Flowers it is a cycle/pedestrian route that unites Val Rendena and Valle del Chiese in a single itinerary, 57 km from Carisolo to the shores of Lake Idro.
During the flowering period, over 600 species of flowers paint the cycle path with a suggestive palette of colours: in the meadows the yellow of the dandelion and the buttercup dominates, but also the pink and red of the coryfolia, the white of the rennet which was once used to transform the milk, the purplish blue of the wildflower. In the wooded areas there are beech trees, ash trees, elder trees and the fragrant mountain lime tree which produces excellent honey. Rare multicolored orchids grow on the banks of the lakes: the speckled orchid, the military orchid, the scorched orchid, but also the St. John’s wort and the potentilla, both medicinal plants with yellow flowers. There are also many edible herbs, nettle with pink flowers, white manna, asparagus and mountain spinach. A synesthesia of colours, scents, flavors and the sound of water that accompanies cycle tourists for the entire length of the route.
There is also no shortage of historic villages and museums and sites that show the signs left by the Great War: walkways, trenches and emplacements for which the Cycle Route represents an excellent starting point. Among the numerous services available to cycle tourists there is also a shuttle bus upon reservation on the way back.

The motivation
The Jury is pleased to return to award a territory that never tires of working and enriching the offer available to tourists on foot and by bicycle with new content. The Green Road dei Fiori is a highly evocative new route, which we wish once again great success among cycling tourism and biodiversity enthusiasts.

“Italian Green Road Awards”
Now in its ninth edition, the Italian cycle tourism Oscar has the dual objective of stimulating administrations to enhance their excellent routes and promoting investments in cycle tourism.
The jury chose from the 25 proposals presented by 16 regions, territories and autonomous provinces (each region could submit up to two applications).
The prizes are awarded to cycle routes that demonstrate they possess criteria of excellence and the highest score according to the various parameters examined, including design, construction, promotion, equipment, signage, green services and more.
The winner of the 2024 edition of the Italia Green Road Awards was Friuli Venezia Giulia with the Pedemontana cycle path, while second place went to the Calabria region with the Val di Neto cycle path.
