He tried to stop a criminal who was threatening a woman but the robber’s accomplice surprised him from behind and hit him on the head with the butt of the gun. A carabiniere who, off duty, intervened to foil a robbery in a bank branch in Afragola, in the province of Naples, was treated with ten stitches; the criminals managed to get away and are currently wanted.

It happened this morning, June 3rd. The soldier was in the bank around 10am when the criminals broke in; there were two of them, but it is possible that there was also a third accomplice outside. One of the robbers approached the cash register while a customer was paying the money; to defend the woman the carabiniere stepped forward and intervened, even though he was not on duty, placing himself between the two and trying to block the criminal. At that moment another robber arrived behind him and hit him on the head with a blunt object, presumably the butt of a gun, causing a bruised lacerated wound.

The soldier was accompanied to the emergency room of the Frattamaggiore hospital (Naples), where ten stitches were applied to his scalp; after the medications he was discharged.
