10.51am – Monday 3 June 2024

On Wednesday 5 June at 5pm, the presentation of Claudio Martinelli’s book “Evolution of cultural policies in Trentino”, published by Idesia with the Trentino Historical Museum Foundation, will be held in Trento at Le Gallerie. An accurate examination of the cultural policies implemented by the Autonomous Province of Trento from the Second Statute of 1972 to today. The initiative is promoted by the Trentino Historical Museum Foundation in collaboration with TSM-Trentino School of Management.

Starting from the Second Statute of Autonomy, the autonomous Province of Trento intervened by shaping “the cultural system” and supported its consolidation and development, intertwining the provincial dimension with the local dimension. In this process, the culture sector has taken on a decisive role in the process of modernization and development of Trentino. Over the years, the “Trentino cultural system” has taken on its own precise physiognomy: cultural institutions have acquired a central role, the quality of the offer and the participation of citizens have gradually grown. In short, culture has become the engine of the civil and social development of the Trentino community.

Claudio Martinelli, sociologist and former director of the Cultural Activities Service of the Province, in the volume that will be presented on Wednesday 5 June at Le Gallerie, has retraced the cultural policies, from the approval of the Second Statute to today, highlighting the visions and ideas that have allowed the establishment of a structure in which tradition and innovation, local dimension and international vocation are intertwined.

The meeting will be introduced by Giuseppe Ferrandi, general director of the Trentino Historical Museum Foundation, Mauro Marcantoni, sociologist and journalist, and Claudio Martinelli himself. This will be followed by speeches by Luca Dal Pozzolo, architect (Fitzcarraldo Foundation of Turin), Sandra Matuella, vice president of the S. Chiara cultural services center of Trento and Michele Lanzinger, president of ICOM Italia. The discussion will be moderated by Paola Borz, general director of TSM-Trentino School of Management.
