ON 2 JUNE IN PADUA: UNITY, BELONGING, REMEMBER

The applause of the public at the message sent by the President of the Republic, read from the stage in Piazza dei Signori, the memory of the women victims of feminicide, but not only. A celebration of everyone, of national unity and of every Italian: Padua thus celebrated, with the usual parade in its living room in the centre, the national holiday of 2 June, Republic Day, in the presence of all the highest political institutions, civil and military. On the day of the 78th anniversary of the referendum with which Italians decided to make the nation a Republic, a large and spectacular array of representatives of the armed forces and institutions was reviewed in front of the mayor, Prefect, generals of the police forces and representatives of politics and government. From the mayor, a long speech focused on the importance of the memory of the past, of fathers and grandfathers who fought for a free and democratic Italy, and a precious opportunity to think about the future of our country.

At the end of the public ceremony, in the council chamber of the Province of Padua, the awarding of the 20 honors of Merit of the Republic, given by the prefect Messina, to 17 men and 3 women. Above all, the appointment of Grand Officer assigned to Doctor Gino Gerosa, world-renowned cardiac surgeon and absolute excellence of the Padua hospital and of Italian medicine.
