ALESSANDRIA – From 7 to 9 June Alessandria returns to being a point of reference for vintage cars: a dive into the past thanks to the 32nd Grand Prix Bordino, organized by Veteran Car Club Bordino of Alessandria. Enthusiasts and collectors of prestigious vintage cars are expected, coming from various Italian and foreign locations.
The Grand Prix Bordino is part of “ASI Circuito Tricolore”, which promotes knowledge and valorisation of the territories to be traveled on board historic cars; furthermore, it has obtained the patronage of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, the Ministry of Culture, the ANCI National Association of Italian Municipalities, and the city of Alessandria. “ASI Circuito Tricolore” offers the public and participants a combination of Made in Italy excellence which includes landscape and architectural beauties, food and wine, cultural offerings, good living in ideal association with the timeless charm of historic vehicles: around seventy cars, all protagonists in the history of motoring from 1930 to 1967 and who played an important role in the most important events of the time, from the Mille Miglia to the Targa Florio to the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The Bordino Grand Prix is still “Classic & Accessible”, an initiative dedicated to enthusiasts with disabilities to allow them to approach historical motoring without barriers, thanks to the help provided by a Lancia Fulvia coupé Montecarlo with specially adapted driving controls (accelerator and manual service brake, automatic clutch); Stefano Motto and Gabriele Lanza, champion at the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Winter Games in the para ice hockey specialty, will be on board and will participate in the Bordino Grand Prix, who will bring their enthusiasm and will to live, demonstrating how much can be done to counteract adverse fates in which sometimes you can come across it in the course of existence.
THE PROGRAM
Friday 7 JuneOn the day of departure, Alessandria will be transformed into a “city of times gone by”, complete with vintage cars and costumes, without forgetting some themed animations; from 12 o’clock in Piazzetta della Lega and in the surrounding streets it will be possible to admire up close the cars protagonists of the three days of motorsport. The departure is scheduled for 4pm: after crossing Corso Roma, the cars from Piazza Garibaldi will go towards a wine cellar in Gattinara; the arrival of the day is expected in the evening in Stresa, a well-known lakeside tourist resort.
Saturday 8 June, the cars with the crews wearing period costumes will travel the streets of Stresa, Pallanza, Villa Taranto and those along Lake Mergozzo, Lake Orta and of course Lake Maggiore; in the evening the over 150 enthusiasts registered for the event will embark on a cruise on the lake with landing on Isola Bella, where a dinner will await them which they will enjoy surrounded by a fascinating sunset.
Sunday 9 June, the participants will finally return to Alessandria, but along the route there will be a stop at a rice mill in the Casale area; the event will find its conclusion in Spinetta Marengo. The Grand Prix Bordino is not just about historic cars, because the participants will wear costumes that refer to the historical period of the car they will present; Furthermore, the show of the Sweet Dolls is scheduled, Burlesque performers who with themed clothes and movements (underskirt, bows, flowers, pin up poses, smiles, retro vintage dances) will involve the public, cheering up the atmosphere at the start from the Lega square .
Finally, we would like to point out an experimental project, a small but significant contribution to the protection of the environment, in which some historic cars will be involved which this year will fill up with bio-fuel, obtained through the process of biological carbon fixation and produced by organic matter then following a process of controlled chemical reactions in the factory.
“Putting the Bordino Grand Prix on the calendar, among other Alessandria events, always gives us great pleasure, since it is important to remember that our city played a fundamental role in the development of motoring for a decade, between the twenties and thirties of the last century ”, declares Antonio Traversa President of the Bordino Club and Federal Councilor of ASI (Italian Historic Automotoclub), an organization recognized by the State as guardian of the culture of historic motoring in Italy with over 150,000 members, “this year the event will have Lake Maggiore as its destination, with its views and scenic beauty. In this way the event presents itself as an incremental factor in tourism, given that over 150 people will be involved. We would like to give our little help to this sector which is not yet fully exploited today.”
