White House doctors at Perrino and bomb squad in action

BRINDISI – The Perrino hospital “under scrutiny” by American doctors, while the inspection of manholes in the streets of Brindisi begins. Inspections and security measures are being intensified in view of the G7 which will take place from 13 to 15 June in Borgo Egnazia, with an important event also scheduled in the capital.

Parking bans, with removal

The bomb squad will go into action to clear the underground services of the roads around the Castello Svevo area, site of the first gala dinner between world leaders, scheduled for the evening of June 13th.

Starting from this morning (3 June) and until next 8 June, the arteries near the Navy base will be closed to parking, with all vehicles removed. This is provided by an order issued by the director of the Public Works sector of the Municipality of Brindisi, Fabio Lacinio, based on the indications provided by the police commissioner of Brindisi, Giampietro Lionetti. The bans will be applied in stages, in five zones.

The first tranche of reclamation interventions is planned along via Sant’Aloy and via de Mille, close to the Castle, where signs prohibiting parking from 6 am to 11 pm have already been displayed, both today and for tomorrow’s.

The same type of ban will also apply in zones 3 and 4, from 5 to 6 June, and in zone five, from 7 to 8 June. The ordinance does not specify the streets, presumably for safety reasons. The inconveniences are inevitable, if we consider the age-old problem of the lack of parking spaces that afflicts the city centre.

The airport

The inconveniences will also be of a certain consistency for passengers who will transit through Salento airport between 11 and 16 June (read the article). During this period of time, the roads surrounding the airport will be closed to transit and parking. The airport, among other things, will be closed from 7pm to 11pm on June 13th, coinciding with the dinner at the Castle. Aeroporti di Puglia invited users to contact their respective companies to check changes to their flights.

As regards the city center, indications on the perimeter and the provisions that will be implemented in the red zone are expected in the next few days, on the occasion of the reception offered by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella.

Inconvenience for citizens: the words of the prefect

Prefect Luigi Carnevale, on the sidelines of Republic Day, addressed the issue of inconvenience. “You must always have the ability to relate – stated Carnevale (watch the video) – not to close yourself off and to communicate as much as possible what the small inconveniences you will have to experience will be, without entrenching yourself, but asking for participation, even if only in endurance. for many, of these events. Until the end we will modulate our interventions to reduce inconvenience to a minimum.”

Hospital inspection

Among the various aspects of the summit, the strengthening of the health service will also have an important role. Suffice it to say that there are around 15, with associated delegations, invited to the G7, including countries and international institutions. Also included in the list are the president of the UN, Pope Francis and the presidents of Ukraine, Turkey and India, who in those days will inaugurate the statue dedicated to Gandhi on the Brindisi seafront.

The preparations are meticulous. In this regard, this morning, among the corridors of the Perrino hospital, some American “visitors” did not go unnoticed. Apparently it was a team of White House doctors who carried out an inspection of the emergency room, intensive care unit and operating block. The professionals were accompanied by President Joe Biden’s security personnel. Because nothing can be left to chance.
