A serious road accident occurred on state road 379 near Carovigno, southbound, involving a 33-year-old motorcyclist who is now in critical condition.
The motorcyclist was traveling on his motorbike when, for reasons yet to be ascertained, he violently collided with a car. The impact was so strong that the motorcyclist was thrown several meters, while his motorbike caught fire. Immediately after the accident, the man was urgently transported to the Perrino hospital in Brindisi, where he was hospitalized in conditions described as “very serious”.
The investigations into the accident have been entrusted to the traffic police, who are currently verifying various hypotheses on the causes of the collision. Among the possibilities being examined by investigators, there is also the possibility that the car may have entered the main road the wrong way, thus causing the violent impact with the motorbike.
The immediate intervention of the rescuers was essential to provide first aid to the motorcyclist and to put out the fire that broke out from the motorbike. Rescue and safety operations in the area of the accident were carried out quickly, but the seriousness of the motorcyclist’s condition caused great concern among those present and the rescuers.
