Violent nightlife in Perugia: a dramatic balance between alcohol and aggression
The toll of the last weekend of violent nightlife in the city is dramatic: five people ended up in prison hospital due to the excesses related to consumption of alcohol and two for injuries suffered following an assault in the area of San Martino in Campo. In the night between Saturday and Sunday, the consequences of the “bad nightlife” led several individuals to seek medical treatment, some of whom transported urgently in an ambulance.
Even though it was the first weekend of application of the mayor’s ordinance to limit alcohol consumption in specific areas of the city, including the center and Fontivegge, the desire to exaggerate with alcohol seemed to prevail, thanks to the arrival of June and the festive atmosphere that it animated Perugia and surroundings with numerous events.
Local hospitals have recorded about ten accesses to the emergency room for problems linked to excessive alcohol consumption, half of which can be directly traced back to the excessive consumption of alcohol. The events of eveningcharacterized by parties, matches and inaugurations, attracted thousands of people, among whom a minority confused the fun with the abuse of alcoholic substances, leading to dangerous and sometimes serious consequences.
There was no shortage of episodes of violence: two people reported being attacked in the San Martino in Campo area, also ending up in hospital almost at the same time as the drunks rescued.
The end week it also saw a number of road accidents. Around midnight, between Via Setevalli and via Dottori, an accident involved two cars, requiring the intervention of the firefighters and the police to free some people trapped in the vehicles. Three injured people were taken to the emergency room.
A particular accident complex it happened on Saturday afternoon along the E45, near the Ponte Felcino junction, where a lorry was involved in an independent accident.
