AAA Looking for a photographer for the mayor Tommaso Minervini

A photographer for the mayor Tommaso Minervini and his council, to be included in the mayor’s staff at the expense of taxpayers.
This, in a nutshell, is the purpose of the announcement published in recent days on the website of the Municipality of Molfetta for the selection of a collaborator “with expertise in photography and video production” in order to strengthen the Municipality’s Press Office, “reporting directly to the Mayor”.
But what will this new collaborator who will be hired on a fixed-term employment contract for one year (extendable) have to do? According to the announcement, the selected subject “will take care of taking photos and videos, updating and planning the activities and news to be published on the social media used by the body, also through forms of participatory involvement, with support functions of the press office, reporting directly to the body political, and anything else that will be identified by the Mayor and the City Council”.
In essence it will be a human resource paid by the citizens of Molfetta to strengthen the propaganda activity of the Mayor Tommaso Minervini and to promote the cult of his personality.
Are we really sure that the Municipality of Molfetta needs a resource of this type?
We have many doubts.
Among other things, the selection procedure envisaged by the announcement does not include exams or practical tests, nor is there an evaluation grid with the attribution of pre-established scores for the possession of professional qualifications or previously acquired experience. None of this. The selection of the chosen one will be of an exclusively discretionary nature on the part of the Mayor who will identify – as stated in the announcement – “at its sole discretion” the candidate to whom the task will be entrusted.
Honestly, we don’t know what specific expertise the mayor has in this matter to be able to evaluate the qualifications, experience or skills of a photographer. We would have expected at least that the selection had been entrusted to a commission of experts on the subject, on based on precise evaluation criteria.
Another aspect, then, leaves us perplexed and that is the time required for submitting the application to participate in the tender. The Notice was published on the Notice Board of the Municipality of Molfetta on May 27th and the deadline for submitting applications is only 10 days. No announcement on the Municipality’s homepage of the existence of this selection, no press release, no news. We have tried, in recent days, to ask some photographers in the city if they knew of the existence of this notice, but they all said they knew nothing. Are we sure that, beyond the formal publication on the Notice Board, adequate publicity has been given to this selection, with a view to effective transparency, so as to allow all potentially interested parties to be able to participate?
Here, for all these reasons we ask the Mayor Tommaso Minervini to revoke this procedure in self-defense because you can’t joke with taxpayers’ money.
