The Rotary Club of Modica donated two Flavofish, the ‘plastic-eating fish’, to the municipality. These are fish-shaped structures where plastic material is placed. “In recent days – states the Ecology councilor, Samuele Cannizzaro – we have placed a couple of them in the city. One on the Buonarroti seafront in Marina di Modica and the other in the open space in front of the schools in via Sulsenti. Together with the president of Rotary of Modica, Dr. Emanuele Romano, we shared the idea that education on respect for the environment, on the healthy and conscientious recycling of plastic material, must be spread from school age, thus ensuring that sensitivity to respect for the territory where we live, it becomes an acquired element already in the growth phase. Encouraging not to waste plastic waste without criteria is a duty of those who administer Modica and to fulfill it we must also offer the necessary means to contain it is a virtuous example. Together with the Mayor Maria Monisteri, and the managers of our Ecology Office, we explained to the compulsory school children present at the time of delivery, the meaning of Falvofish and why it was chosen as the ‘form’ in which to deliver. the material. Also with us was the Plastic Free provincial representative, Graziano Accept, who spoke about the importance of respect for the environment for the world to come”.
