Viterbo, Republic Day 2024: Piazza San Lorenzo packed

VITERBO – In a choir of 300 participantshosted by a Viterbo united in perpetuating historyalso the June 2, 2024 has run its course, sending fruitful messages: in 78th anniversary of the 1946 referendumthe one that led Italy to the conquest of Republicnothing was improvised.
They have arrived in Piazza San Lorenzo the mayor Chiara Frontiniwho reiterated the importance of “moments we must treasure”, the President of the Environment Commission of the Parliament Mauro Rotelli, The President of the Province Alessandro RomoliThe bishop Orazio Francesco PiazzaThe prefect Gennaro CapoThe prosecutor Paolo Auriemma and police commissioner Luigi Silipo on its first official release. To enrich the event from a perspective of inclusiveness and liveliness he also attended Egisto Bianconi, extraordinary commissioner of the ASLtogether with Committee of the Italian Red Cross of the capital. In the large turnout in the morning, dedicated to historical memory of the countrythe Law enforcement agencies and various fighting associations.
The initiative, which retraced the roots of our political institutionstook place from 9.30am and lasted for a couple of hours. “June 2, 1946 participating was the imperative. In the writing of our Constitution – stated the first citizen – the dimension of the individual as such and as a member of a community is inscribed in the fundamental principles. There Repubblica recognizes and guarantees the inviolable rights of man both as individuals and in social groups where he develops his personality”: a clear reference to a ancient sense of community which must not separate citizens from the collective, but which is capable of preserve its characteristics and needs.
Romoli asked an open questionorfar from being rhetorical: “We today we must ask ourselves what we can build, in the wake of that 2 June 1946”. The solution comes with “We must defend the Constitution and republican institutionsstrengthen them, if possible” and through perseverance in promoting peace, “because theItaly repudiates and will always repudiate war as a means of resolving international disputes”. A hymn to cohesionto shared well-being, to the future and to contemporary life of democracy, which is our flag.
Someone deserving figures have also been awarded honors by the Municipality. Among them the Major of the Carabinieri Federico Alfonso Lombardiin office in Viterbo from 2016 to 2021, the Brigadier Chief of the Financial Police Franco BalloreThe Chief Superintendent of the State Police Emanuele Politini, the Knight of Merit Anna Rita Dionisi and the President of the Viterbo Red Cross Cristina Bugiotti.
