PESCARA. «Rancitelli’s criminals had a chat on Whatsapp to say that we shouldn’t vote for Pettinari because it would be over for them. And I say to these criminals that they are right: with me as mayor, for them, it will really be over.” Domenico Pettinari, a candidate for civic mayor who professes to be «equidistant from the center-right and the center-left because they are the same», shows up in via Lago di Borgiano, turns on the speakers and speaks into the microphone facing the public housing. It is the first of Pettinari’s two rallies «under the houses of Rancitelli’s drug dealers»: yesterday in via Lago di Borgiano 20 and, today at 5.30 pm, in via Lago di Capestrano 15, the same address where Pettinari, last 28 October, he discovered an attic to consume crack. A river in flood: «Threats», says Pettinari, «won’t stop me. We will evict all those who are not entitled to public housing to give housing to good people: there are 450 families waiting because the apartments are occupied by criminals who deal and earn up to a thousand euros a day.” And then a lunge at the other candidates running for the Municipality in the elections of 8 and 9 June: «For twenty years we have been risking our lives in the suburbs», says Pettinari, «the catwalks of my competitors these days are crying out for revenge» .
In front of the mayoral candidate there is an open space of dusty land invaded by waste bags with pigeons and seagulls sharing the rubbish. «With us in the Municipality, there will be zero tolerance: we will not make concessions to crime which has so far reigned undisturbed», announces Pettinari. According to the former regional councillor, “the images of the neighborhood with rubbish and broken roads are the emblem of the municipal administration”. Pettinari promises controls: «Mixed patrols between the police and the Army are needed, especially on foot, guaranteeing the security of the area 24 hours a day. The local police will also be on the streets. Here too, citizens have the right to live in peace. In our program”, he continues, “we have also envisaged an increase in the number of cameras, connected online to the license plate reading system so as to allow us to intercept stolen cars and trigger an alert, reach them and seize them. A way”, according to Pettinari, “to more effectively fight criminals who would be easily identified and stopped, avoiding muggings, thefts, robberies, drug dealing and other crimes”.
Pettinari explains his social plan for the suburbs: «It is our task first of all to relocate some municipal offices in these suburbs, thus making it easier for residents to use them; Furthermore, we must include social services driven by predictive logic that allow us to identify all situations of hardship, so that we can take charge of them and resolve them. Let’s not forget that the city of Pescara records a poverty rate of 29.7% compared to the national figure which stands at 20%”.
Another promise is «an incisive tax relief work that will create a real free zone, where new productive activities will be able to see the light. Everything must start from the administrators who can never back down, placing, if necessary, citizens’ priorities before personal ones. I believe I have always demonstrated this by not stopping at anything, not even personal threats which, on the contrary, pushed me to always move forward and with greater strength. My civic lists, Pettinari Mayor and Citizens for Pescara, are like two children for me.”
