After the first very intense months of 2024, before further major competitive events, we take stock of what has been done so far by the competitive teams of the Circolo Surf Torbole, which continues a great work involving all the athletes of the youth and senior Techno 293 and iQFoil classes .
In recent days, meanwhile, seven young athletes from the Circolo Surf Torbole have been awarded in Genoa for the results achieved in 2023: Mattia Saoncella Vice European Champion iQ Foil Junior Under 15, Nicolò Renna for the Olympic Nation Qualification, European Champion and World Bronze; Manolo Modena, Vice European Champion and World Bronze iQ Foil Under 21, Sofia Renna Vice World Champion Under 21; Gaia Bonezzi European bronze and World Champion Techno 293 under 15, Leonardo Tomasini World Champion iQ Foil Youth Under 19 and Vice World Champion Youth World Sailing; Marco Guida Di Ronza: Vice European Techno Plus Champion.
During the winter and early spring the Garda surfers participated in 6 international events, starting from the iQ Foil Senior and Under 23 World Cup in Lanzarote and moving on to the iQ Games in Japan, in Cadiz in Spain, the iQ Foil World Cup in Palma and Hyeres, up to the last iQ Games in Campione. The younger ones instead participated in the stages of the Coppa Italia Techno 293 together with the iQ Foil team going to Civitavecchia, Cagliari and Torbole.

Sofia Renna, Manolo Modena and Leonardo Tomasini were involved in the World Cup in Palma de Mallorca as called up by the FIV Under 23.
Nicolò Renna 8th is unable to recover due to the Medal Race not being held due to lack of wind.
Sofia below par, not one of her best races, only 57th. Little evidence to allow her to make up for it. Manolo Modena did well in 23rd, placing excellent partials both in qualifying and in the gold fleet; Leonardo Tomasini 42nd also excellent partials for him, comfortably hits the gold fleet, especially good at managing school commitments and alternating Youth activity with Senior activity.

Hyeres: Sofia Renna and Manolo Modena called up
Our athletes, Italian standard-bearers, raced in the fleet of Nations already qualified for the Olympics. The level was very high, as it was the last major event before the Games.
Manolo Modena started the regatta with a low level of concentration compared to the importance of the event, improving from race to race. On the contrary, Sofia Renna has always been determined to make up for Palma’s bad performance from a few weeks earlier. It’s just a shame that you only played a few tests.

The work done so far has always been thought of as a Club, as a group that believes in the present and always thinks about the future. Beyond the excellent results at the beginning of the season, it is worth underlining the young age of all the athletes who have to manage their competitive career with the much more important school commitments and it is no small feat to be at these sporting levels while going to school.
