Today, June 2nd, Republic Day is celebrated. The day, in Siena, opened at the Monumento Kindergarten with the raising of the flag and the laying of a Laurel Wreath by the Prefect of Siena, a solemn gesture to honor the fallen and celebrate the values of the Republic.
The Institutional Procession started from the Monumento Kindergarten and wound along the city streets up to Piazza del Duomo, home to the Government Palace. The procession was accompanied by the “Ernesto Becucci” Philharmonic of Radicondoli, which with its notes created an atmosphere of celebration and solemnity.
The official ceremony in Piazza del Duomo began at 10.00. The Banda Città del Palio performed the National Anthem while the Italian Flag was unfurled on the façade of the Government Palace by the Provincial Fire Brigade Command. A touching moment that symbolizes the unity and strength of our country.
During the ceremony, messages from the President of the Republic were read, followed by speeches from the mayor of Siena, the president of the Province and the prefect. One of the most anticipated moments was the presentation of the awards, a recognition for those who stood out for their commitment and service to the community.
Also in Piazza del Duomo, the Banda Città del Palio, directed by Maestro Giuseppe Baldesi, delighted those present with a concert that ranged from the works of Mozart and Rossini to the melodies of Mancini and Sinatra. An unmissable opportunity for music lovers and for all those who want to spend a cheerful morning.
The day of celebrations ends in style at the Teatro dei Rinnovati, where at 9.15 pm the Rinaldo Franci Conservatory presents the concert “Il Franci per l’Italia: brass and percussion instruments in celebration”.
