Benevento, songs and awards for the 78th anniversary of the Republic

It took place this morning, at Beneventothe official celebration of 78th anniversary from the Foundation of the Republic, in the presence of the ecclesiastical, civil and military authorities, of the fighting and military associations. The start at 11 in Piazza Castello, with the review of the armed picket, the flag raising ceremony, which was followed by the blessing of the crown by the Archbishop of Benevento Felice Accrocca and the deposition of the same in front of the war memorial by the prefect Carlo Torlontanoaccompanied by the provincial commander of the Carabinieri, Colonel Enrico Calandroby the mayor Clemente Mastella and by the president of the Province Nino Lombardi. The prefect read the message from the President of the Republic and, subsequently, Mastella and Lombardi themselves spoke.

During the ceremony, the honors of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic were awarded, awarded by decree of the President of the Republic for “long and notable services in civil and military careers”. At the end of the event, the students of the «Giannone» national boarding school marched with the Italian flag to the tune of the Ode to Joy, composed by Ludwig Van Beethoven. The musical pieces were performed by the students of the «Sala» Conservatory under the direction of the maestro Vincenzo D’Arcangelo. The demonstration ended at 5pm with the lowering of the flag.
