Messina – It was a chain of solidarity set in motion by the students of the Manzoni-Dina and Clarenza institute in Messina who, together with Kiwanis, raised funds to donate a guide dog to the regional center Helen Keller, the institute that takes care of animals to support the blind.

The puppy delivery ceremony was an afternoon of great joy and participation for the students. The project was promoted by the kids of the school’s Kiwanis Builders Club, chaired by the very young Sofia Russianand is one of the many social initiatives carried out by the club with the aim of promoting charitable works in harmony with classmates and professors.

In this case, the funds for the purchase of the puppy were the result of the sale of kitchen aprons on the occasion of Mother’s Day. It was a solidarity consortium started by the students of the Kiwanis group and also spread outside the school walls thanks to some associations that embraced the cause, such as the Kiwanis Peloro (sponsor club), the AMMI chaired by Lilly CCavallaro manthe UCSI with the president of the Messina section Laura Simoncin and the regional president Domenico Interdonated and “I Fikissimi” chaired by Massimo Pulitanò.

The head teacher of the Manzoni school, Concetta, was present at the ceremony four eyesthe mayor Federico Basilethe director of the Helen Keller Fabrizio Center Zingale, the vice principals Nadia Greek and James Gugliarlo, the past lieutenant governor Division 1 of the two Mari-Valdemone Tonino Brancatothe president of Kiwanis Peloro Michele Minissal, the two vice presidents of Kiwanis Builders Manzoni, Alma Dardanelles and Jade Mastronardo, the Kiwanis Manzoni teachers: Lina Salpietro (advisor Kiwanis Builders), Giusy La Fauci, Angela Abbot, Grace Spinella, Rosella Pour into it and Letizia Lucca, numerous teachers of the school and parents of the students.

The boys met Heineken, the guide dog entrusted to the lawyer Maria Puliatti, who spoke to them about the experience alongside the center and together with the puppies that are assigned to foster carers (in the foreground of the photo).

An exciting and evocative ceremony which also saw the participation of the school choir led by Professor Giusy La Fauci, the spectacular performance of “Body percussion” under the direction of Professor Cinzia Vast and “l’Ensamble Manzoni” directed by Professor Tommaso Celona who performed the national anthem and the European anthem. At the end of the ceremony, some instructors from the Helen Keller center did an exercise with guide dogs and showed a puppy who had recently arrived at the center and was entrusted to a family.
