MODICA – A 2,000 euro robbery occurred a few weeks ago against a grocery store in Viale Medaglie d’Oro in Modica, but the news only emerged in recent hours, when it became known about the other thefts and attempts of theft. A robbery was carried out last week against a rotisserie in Piazza Corrado Rizzone: the criminals took away an LED TV and cash. Theft attempts occurred against the nearby bakery and, as mentioned, the Campailla palace, in the square of the same name, in the heart of the historic centre, which houses the medicine museum.
Returning to the most significant heist, that of the 2,000 euros, the cash was contained in a bag that the owner had left in the restaurant, waiting to come and take it back. Evidently the circumstance will not have escaped anyone’s notice and the thieves acted without fail, after smashing the entrance window of the shop. The entire area has been in the sights of petty thieves for months, with successful or attempted attacks on bars and other commercial premises. The police are working to trace the identity of the criminals, also by viewing the images taken by the remote surveillance cameras.
