In Piazza San Siro, last night, the final event of the electoral campaign of Fulvio Fellegara. A different way to face the last week of promoting the candidate and the lists for the next Sanremo administrative elections.
A different way of approaching the electorate with Fulvio Fellegara who spoke with the supporters, in an evening seasoned with lots of music and the inevitable buffet. “We created this event in advance to charge us in the last week and explain to Sanremo that we are the only alternative for this city”.
How do you rate this first electoral campaign? “A wonderful experience that I would do again from the beginning because it was exciting. We have never commented on the polls because they were used badly, the only real one will be the one on the 10th evening and we hope it will be positive for us. We still have a month of campaigning because we aim to win the runoff. We are satisfied with what has been done and with the proposals put forward: there are many, linked to social issues, for a different city that looks to the future and will be there in 20 years.”
How did you find ‘your’ Sanremo in these months of campaigning? “Angry and disappointed, in some places forgotten. Many disheartened people who told us they hadn’t seen anything change, despite the many investments. I hope that this sense of distrust, abandonment and anger that has been conveyed to us will be channeled into a vote towards a city with a different idea”.
There has been a lot of talk in this electoral campaign about support from political parties and about civility. You proposed yourself with a mix of these: “I believe we need to explain, with sincerity to people, which side we are on. Hiding behind a high level of civility and not clarifying whether you are right or left is a bad and insufficient approach. A connection with the national exists and must exist. A choice of field is an act of clarity towards the voters.”
What did he say to his supporters tonight? “We explained a very important element: on the other side we have opponents who represent sides of the same coin. An identical cultural approach and a very similar approach to politics with an attitude that also exists at a regional level. Large external financiers who pay for two major campaigns and who will influence any mayors. We were different, with a new way of doing politics.”
