The list with which Fabrizio Oliva ran for mayor of Pesaro is called “Free Spaces”. Here are some highlights from his programme: it is our second episode dedicated to the projects of aspiring mayors.

CULTURE

Some of the objectives: integrate culture and entertainment through innovative initiatives, such as inviting famous artists to share cultural experiences and perform in spaces dedicated to this type of activity.

Renovate the former San Benedetto mental hospital, transforming it into a large center of art, culture and quality of life (on the model of San Domenico in Forlì), reserving a part of the structure for the creation of a museum on mental distress.

Enhance the Giuli Gardens. The use of the bar and the making of the basement accessible offer opportunities to enrich the offer of services and activities in this area. Closely connect this area to the San Benedetto and San Giovanni neighborhoods.

Guarantee the possibility of guided tours in the prestigious rooms of the Conservatory.

Promote the continuous opening of Rocca Costanza and the restoration of the Renaissance church housed inside. Restoration and reopening of the Crypt of San Decenzio, the oldest church in Pesaro owned by the municipality.

YOUNG

Introduction of the Student Card which offers young people an unprecedented opportunity to access a series of benefits and concessions.

Establishment of the Student House.

Creation of a series of actual venues that become focal points during the weekend for young people from Pesaro and for young people from neighboring cities

Optimal valorization of natural and urban resources such as Baia Flaminia, Viale Trieste and the portion of beaches that connect Pesaro and Fano.

SPORT

Promote the search for a position within the municipal administration dedicated to coordinating the calendar of sporting events.

Targeted intervention on the Benelli stadium. The current Prato bleacher, with its 14 steps, requires an adjustment both in terms of height and positioning in relation to the pitch. Our proposal involves lowering and lengthening the lawn steps, bringing them closer to the pitch and moving them towards the covered grandstand. This reorganization will allow the creation of a covered “C” shaped structure, expanding the capacity of the stadium. The approach of using iron pipes and bleachers has proven efficient and cost-effective in other contexts.

Design of a modular space added to the city skatepark, construction of a go-kart track, extension of the student card to athletes affiliated with sports clubs.

Improve and use the school field in via Respighi.

Enhance the San Bartolo bike slopes.

Promote sporting use of beaches.

TOURISM

Improve public transport by introducing innovative services such as bike sharing and scooter sharing.

Confirm and extend the agreement with the Prefecture to allow public access to the Doge’s Palace

The full exploitation of the city’s natural beauty, such as the Baia Flaminia and the breathtaking views, represents a resource to be enhanced through the creation of outdoor events and cultural initiatives.

Establishment of a Help Desk to facilitate visitors and fellow citizens in accessing useful information regarding the city’s cultural, sporting and recreational activities.

It seems particularly important to us to intervene in two smaller centers of our Municipality: in Ginestreto, making the Church of San Pietro in Rosis (Santa Maria Nuova and San Pietro Apostolo), in the town, permanently accessible to all, and the Pieve Vecchia (near the Cemetery) , and in Monteciccardo, restoring the ancient walls of the castle, the cellars and the internal rooms, recently discovered, and promoting the recovery of Villa Mancini, of great value but abandoned to decay.

Establish a network of mosaics of the Roman and late ancient city, easily accessible to visitors from all over the world: a) remove the upper Mosaic of the Cathedral (from the 6th-13th century) and relocate it at the level of the cathedral’s floor level, covered by a transparent anti-fog, anti-scratch and anti-slip material; b) restore and make accessible to all the lower Mosaic of the Cathedral (from the 4th century) with a series of walkways to be built under the floor of the church (on the model of what was created in the Cathedral of Bari); c) make the Roman walls (184 BC and 272 AD) and the Picena house (6th century BC) in Via Galligarie accessible, with adequate arrangement, and dig up and restore the other adjacent Picena house; d) make available to all the mosaics located under the Provincial bar and, with an agreement with the owners, those under the La Guercia restaurant and those of the former Cassa di Risparmio del Corso; e) dig up the mosaics and Roman remains of Piazza Matteotti and give them adequate visibility; f) adequately promote, and connect the splendid excavations of Colombarone with the Pesaro antiquities brought to light; g) request and obtain (first provisionally and then definitively) the return of the Roman mosaic Leda and the seasons, found in 1932 in a Domus near the current Via Gramsci, then removed and delivered to the Archaeological Museum of Ancona, where it lies in the warehouse crates; h) establish (in a historic building owned by the municipality, such as the San Domenico or Palazzo Mazzolari Mosca, once renovated, a Center for the study and valorization of the mosaics and pre-Roman, Roman and late ancient antiquities of the city; i) use geophysical surveys to analyze the areas considered likely to contain mosaics and Roman finds and not covered by homes, shops and offices.

The investment of tourist taxes in the tourism sector.
