The valorisation of the University and international tourism promotion as pillars of its programme, the “no” to the Riceci landfill and strong support for the hospital as mandatory necessities and a renewed and convinced support for Maurizio Gambini.

This is how Urbino, an ideal city, presents itself at the polls for the second time, a movement based on the “Concrete City” coalition and born in 2017.

“Despite so much competition, we field a large list, made up of 25 people with a wide variety of representation, good will and convinced of supporting Gambini – explains Lino Mechelli, founder of the group and new candidate –. We consider him the most suitable to complete the job immense undertaking initiated and to which to entrust the transition of the city with the definitive recognition of provincial capital.

In my opinion and according to the mood I have gathered among the people, he will win in the first round. Even if there were some disappointments, our group resisted, indeed, it strengthened: today it has a central role in the coalition”.

For Mechelli, it will be essential to establish collaboration with the main institutions: “From the University to the National Gallery of the Marche, passing through Isia and the Academy of Fine Arts, up to the Curia, we must have cooperation and not competition, always in the guarantee of mutual autonomy.

Now we must pay close attention to the University, especially given the growth of telematics, also improving the reception of students. In the new role of capital, we aim to strengthen support for the Urbino hospital and it could also be a good opportunity to think about reactivating the railway.

As a city councilor, I fought strongly to avoid the transfer of the police station to the suburbs, with the hope that it will soon have a suitable location, and regarding Riceci I declared my opposition to the landfill: I believe that the project should be withdrawn.

Finally there is trade, whose situation has changed, as throughout the world, but which must be redeveloped using all possible levers.

It will be necessary to identify an effective place of comparison to find the best solutions, not something occasional.

And then we have to push hard on tourism, which must have an international value. Urbino has the right and duty to organize an engine that promotes the city, the region and perhaps even Italy throughout the world.”
