Italy’s first defeat in this European Championship. Against England it ends 1 – 0 for the British in the third match of Group B Euro 2024 organized byEAFF (European Amputee Football Federation) scheduled in France in Evian from 1 to 8 June 2024.
After the two consecutive victories against the Netherlands (2 – 0) and Georgia (4 – 0) comes the defeat at the hands of the English who qualify for the second phase as top of the class.
The Azzurri of CT Francesco Ramunno they ranked second and still achieved their goal Quarter finals.
After a study phase in the 10th minute Italy becomes dangerous with Lorenzo Marcantognini on an assist from Sasso but the blue number 11 doesn’t hit well and the ball ends up wide.
First half that slips away without many emotions. The game was fragmented due to the many referee whistles and great physicality on the pitch with the two teams facing each other head on, trying not to expose themselves too much.
The second half starts in the same way but in the 31st minute the game breaks the deadlock: the Italian defense is surprised by the English who find the advantage with their number 11.
Italy trying to react but without finding the right ideas to hit England who came close to doubling their lead in the 49th minute but a super Thomas Movia closes the door mirror.
Thus ends the match with the Azzurri losing 1 – 0 to England on the third day of group B.
Rest day tomorrow and then Wednesday 6 June we’ll be back on the pitch for the Quarter finals where we will face one of Spain and Franceor the first of Group A.

“An honor and a pride to play with the armband. As vice captain I knew it could happen and I’m very happy that it happened. I wore it with respect, a sense of belonging and the desire to do well. Today’s result perhaps does not fully reflect the outcome of the match. We had great possession of the ball, they also waited for us because even a draw was enough for them to qualify as first in the table for goals scored. We created several chances and their goalkeeper was good. Maybe the fairest result would have been a draw, but that’s okay. We understood that with the right intensity we can compete with the best in Europe.”
