PC ANPAS support. CAMPANIA REGION for the bradyseism emergency in Pozzuoli. The first operational assistance phase by the regional volunteers, which has been in place since May 20th in Pozzuoli due to the intense seismic swarm that hit the area, ended today. The yellow alert remains and we move on to the second phase with the national mobilization and the first exercises as early as June.
The head of the ANPAS Civil Protection takes stock of the situation. CAMPANIA Dr. Giovanni Molinaro:
“The assistance to the displaced population activated by the SORU PC of the CAMPANIA REGION and directed by Dr. Claudia Campobasso saw the arrival in the affected area of hundreds of regional teams and thousands of volunteers during the 15 days of operational activity. The ANPAS Coordination, explains Molinaro, has done its part, with the activation of a contingent of around 150 volunteers and 20 teams from all the Provinces of Campania, managed in synergy with the operational delegate Antonio Pellegrino and the internal SOR, for on-site assistance operations. Given the delicate situation that has persisted for months in the area, continues Molinaro, we will immediately move on to the next phase of national mobilization, which the government has authorized at the request of the regional and local authorities, with targeted exercises as early as June and the ANPAS. it will certainly be at the forefront as it is one of the components of the National PC System.
National mobilization involves the use of the national civil protection service to support the regional systems concerned through the coordinated involvement of the mobile columns of the other regions and autonomous provinces and of the organized civil protection volunteering referred to in article 32, as well as of the structures national operations referred to in article 13, paragraph 1. In addition to ensuring the coordination of the intervention of the National Civil Protection Service, in support of the regional structures in case of need, for assistance to the population, it carries out with the ministers concerned competence, a careful reconnaissance of the financial resources necessary for the first interventions to secure public infrastructures and civil homes, starting with those located in areas with high seismic risk in bradyseismic areas.
The situation concludes Molinaro, is constantly evolving in the area but the regional PC sector managed by Dr Italo Giulivo and coordinated by Dr. Claudia Campobasso with the support of Dr. Rossella Cascone, has been working tirelessly for months with high sense of responsibility and professionalism, to inform, train and manage the population residing in the areas affected by bradyseism, as well as training local bodies and structures. In addition to all the regional components, applause goes to all the ANPAS volunteers. Campania, men and women who immediately participated in the operations without hesitation and with an enormous spirit of sacrifice.”
