BARI – The Bari prosecutor’s office, which has opened an investigation into voluntary homicide, has ordered an autopsy on the body of the 38-year-old man of Indian nationality killed late yesterday evening inside a former disused hospital, which was located in the Ceglie del Campo district, on the outskirts of Bari. The task will be conferred on Monday to Professor Davide Ferorelli of the Institute of Forensic Medicine of the Polyclinic of Bari. The investigations should begin immediately afterwards.
According to what has emerged so far from the investigations of the flying squad agents coordinated by the magistrate of the Bari prosecutor’s office Matteo Soave, the victim, who in all likelihood was irregular on Italian territory, was inside the abandoned and dilapidated building in which he used to spend his night together with other foreign citizens, some of them his compatriots, when three very young people allegedly broke in. One of them was holding a firearm and by pressing the trigger she hit the victim in the chest without giving him a chance.
It was the witnesses to the crime who called for help yesterday evening and started the investigation which will have to define the motive for the murder. It cannot be ruled out that it may have been a punitive expedition. Little is known about the victim: it is not clear who he was or how long he had been in Italy and Bari. The investigators, who are identifying those who usually sleep in the former hospital and then listen to him, are ascertaining the presence of video surveillance systems in the area
