Legality education, over 3 thousand students at the meetings organized by the Local Police of Andria

The legality education training course promoted by the Local Police Command has concluded.

As part of the project, the Corps staff met over 3,000 students of the institutes, of all levels. Through interactive lessons, the students learned the importance of some fundamental notions on common living and the rules dictated by the Highway Code, promoting in them a “road awareness”.

The activities aimed at students were carried out during school hours. The Local Police Agents met the children of the nursery school, explaining to them the basic notions of what the road is and how to behave especially during pedestrian crossings.

The students also visited the offices of the Command, fascinated above all by the Operations Centre, where they witnessed the operation of the video surveillance and the radio equipment.

The Agents illustrated the correct behavior to adopt when being a pedestrian or cyclist and the meaning of road signs to the elementary school students, while to the middle school students, in addition to informing them on the correct behavior to adopt when being a pedestrian and cyclists, the correct behavior to adopt when riding scooters and basic notions on signs were illustrated. The meetings with high school students, however, had the objective of creating awareness among children of the risk factors that can occur on the road, starting from the assumption of respect for the rules through constructive and shared reflection. During the meetings, the Local Police personnel illustrated the behaviors to be followed on the road and the dangers deriving from incorrect attitudes such as the use of mobile phones while driving, failure to use seat belts or after getting behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Investing in traffic education from an early age is essential to creating a lifelong safety culture.
