High tension in Leini, Gori’s endorsement for Torella unleashes Pittalis’ anger

A video in support of the mayoral candidate for the administrative elections of Leini, part of the Democratic Party, Luca Torella, was enough to trigger not only the controversy, but even the piqued response of the outgoing mayor Renato Pittalis, re-nominated for the second mandate, “offended ” from the statements, in his opinion, harmful to the Leinicese community.

The “prisoner” video is that of the mayor of Bergamo, Giorgio Gori, also of the Democratic Party, who according to Pittalis would have denigrated Leini, demonstrating that he does not know the past and present judicial history of the city. An endorsement made especially for the candidate of his own party, Luca Torella, candidate of his own party for the highest seat in the Municipality. What offended Pittalis, to the point of even writing an open letter that is making the rounds on social media? Basically the statement that Leini had a “troubled path” and “several commissionerships”.

«In truth, the commissionership, following the dissolution of the municipal council due to mafia infiltration – Pittalis – was one, 12 years ago. One, not several. 12 years ago”. And he adds: «It also amazes me that you, as mayor (referring to Gori ed.), beyond belonging which obviously induces you to help the candidates of your own party, can in some way espouse the rhetoric of fear, of restlessness , of proposing the choice of the Democratic Party as the one and only alternative to a “troubled path””. And then the poisonous jab at the Turin Democratic Party: «Right here in Turin, then, where another path that I could also define as troubledmuch more recent, involves, according to media reports, your own party.”

And Pittalis does not even give discounts to the candidates of the four lists that support Torella «candidates who come and go depending on the era and (electoral) opportunities. Those who were previously considered a bogeyman to blame are now a convenient ally, or an ally of convenience, at least until the elections. Leini’s reality is perhaps a little different from how they told it.” And he concludes: «I have been Leinicese since birth, I am proud and proud of being Leinicese, and I stand tall as Leiniceseas mayor, as president of the Union of Municipalities, as vice-president of Public Notice, to tell what Leini is today, not 12 years ago”.

A letter to which Torella did not want to respond but, pulled by the jacket, he decided to reply: «Pittalis is aware of being in the twilight and does not miss an opportunity to attack us. Something we have never done for a precise choice. Political responsibility also passes through these decisions with respect for citizens. I would add that he did not even spare Giorgio Gori, an excellent mayor and an authoritative candidate of the Democratic Party in the European elections. I too am proud to be from Leinice, so proud that I ran as mayor of the city to be able to represent it in every office, institutional and otherwise. Finally, I do not accept lessons from those who, instead of focusing on their vision of the city’s future, spend their time, evidently because they are devoid of ideas as they have demonstrated in the last 5 years, to attack any of our projects and proposals.”
