Turin – “Appuntamento in Giardino” is back: parks and botanical gardens open for a special event
“Appointment in the Garden” is back. And it opens parks and gardens to the public.
The event returns to Piedmont on 1 and 2 June 2024. Promoted by APGI – Association of Parks and Gardens of Italy, with the support of Ales Spa and the patronage of the Ministry of Culture and ANCI, this initiative celebrates its seventh edition . The event offers a unique opportunity to rediscover the “living cultural heritage” through special openings and activities in over 200 Italian parks and gardens.
Piedmont participates with numerous initiatives, including a guided tour of the Lorella Garden (Orta San Giuliano, Novara) and the Perfume Garden (Melle, Cuneo) and a concert at the Agliè Castle.
The initiative takes place simultaneously in more than 20 European countries, in line with the international Rendez-vous aux jardins project. Every year the event proposes a different theme; for 2024 the central theme will be “The five senses in the garden”.
With over 300 events, “Appuntamento in Giardino” is now a consolidated event, appreciated by the public thanks to the growing awareness that gardens are authentic “open-air museums” with immense historical, artistic, botanical and landscape value.
As in previous editions, the program involves a variety of actors: gardeners, botanists, landscapers, private owners, public managers, foundations and associations. These collaborate to describe the universe of gardens, highlighting their fragility, cultural and environmental relevance, and importance for individual and collective well-being.
