With this in mind, the arrangement of a 3,000 square meter private green area in via Gentile da Fabriano, a few tens of meters from the viale Battisti ramp, has recently begun.

Compensatory free stalls

With its 100 free spaces it will compensate for those lost in Viale Battisti, where the redevelopment work, which awaits completion on the Ancona side entirely occupied by a pedestrian path and cycle path, on the opposite side has led to a reduction in parking spaces, but also those eliminated last year on the mountain side of viale Alighieri, even if the parking ban applied to carve out cycle lanes and pedestrian platforms in the stretch between via Bramante and viale Battisti continues to be frequently violated.

The agreement

It is the councilor for public works Brunori who illustrates the content of the agreement with the owners of that strip of land in the Orti area which will cost just over 5,000 euros in rent plus VAT, which will be used for parking until 30 September and which provides entry and exit for vehicles from via Gentile da Fabriano, while pedestrian transit will develop along a corridor that will connect to via Cimarosa, and from here to viale Alighieri, and with via Mascherpa, functional to reaching viale Battisti, thus allowing get to the seafront more quickly and above all in safety conditions which are not guaranteed along via Gentile da Fabriano.

On the Lido, however, the former Vittoria area will continue to be the indispensable additional pool of parking spaces. The innovation introduced in 2023 and slavishly proposed again this year is that the Municipality recognizes the property, which had previously made it available free of charge, the sum of 20,000 euros plus VAT, as a fee to also be extended to the almost 900 square meters in via Cappellini in Ponte Sasso, even those in the belly of Furlani Celso & C.

It is curious that even in the expenditure determination of 16 May last, there is an insistence on underlining the “incongruity” of the outlay, which was however defined as inevitable in the face of the “superior public interest” explained by the lack of parking in the two relevant areas and, consequently , with the need to “avoid inconvenience and potentially dangerous situations”.

The degradation at the Lido for 10 years

And who knows if, in addition to a new parking area policy, the future city government will be able to identify an attractive urban planning solution to elevate the former Vittoria site from an unwatchable, albeit very precious reservoir of parking spaces, to a reality in tune with the context , considering that the mixed forecast, in fact also endorsed by the new Prg, of approximately 1,800 square meters of hotel, 1,300 of residential and the same number of commercial and recreational places, with expansion of the former Cif car park and direct connection with the seafront with deduction, is a dead letter for more than ten years now.
