Over 17 thousand products seized in Treviso

During a control activity, the agents of the Provincial Command of Treviso of the Guardia di Finanza carried out a series of interventions aimed “at protecting the market of goods from the diffusion of products that do not comply with safety standards imposed by European Union and national regulations”.

The financiers then detected, at 9 commercial establishmentsthe presence of a high number of illegal and potentially harmful products for health.

Agents of the Treviso GdF engaged in the operation with which over 17 thousand products were seized, such as cosmetics and shower gel, containing the carcinogenic substance Lilial

The Fiamme Gialle then proceeded to seize as many as 17,225 cosmetic products containing a carcinogenic substancethe “Butylphenyl Methylpropional”, better known as Lilial.

Illegal cosmetics and bubble baths

As explained in a note from the Financial Police “articles were seized, including well-known national and international brandsfor facial care, personal hygiene and perfumery, including creams, emulsions, lotions, gels and oils for the skin, beauty soaps and deodorant soaps, men’s and women’s perfumes, bubble baths, shampoos and other preparations for baths and showers, spray deodorants, hairsprays, hair gels and conditioners, ointments, aftershave, intimate gels”.

The commercial value of the products protected and, therefore, definitively removed from the market – the press release continues – amounts to approximately 52,000 euroswhile the commercial, wholesale or retail establishments where the interventions were carried out are located in the municipalities of Mogliano Veneto, Paese, Preganziol, Spresiano and Treviso”.

For all seized products destruction was ordered by the Prosecutor’s Office, while the Guardia di Finanza renews its commitment to combating illegal and harmful products and protecting consumer health.

What is the carcinogenic substance Lilial

Lilial is a synthetic molecule widely used as an odorous component in cosmetics, especially in products such as perfumes, shampoos, soaps, body creams and cleansing milks, but it can also be found in household hygiene itemslike detergents.
