Caretta Caretta turtle recovered in the canal port of Ravenna

On the evening of Friday 25 May the Ravenna Coast Guard operations room was alerted by two citizens who were walking along the quay of Via Fabbrica Vecchia in Marina di Ravenna about the presence of a sea turtle in difficulty floating in the waters of the port. The Coast Guard inflatable boat GC B141, which arrived on site, found the turtle near the body of water in front of the Teodora thermal power plant, inside the port of Ravenna.
With the help of specialized personnel from the CESTHA Recovery Center in Marina di Ravenna, the young Caretta Caretta was recovered on board.
Sally’s misadventure, so called by those who found her, approximately 40 cm long, ended with an immediate on-site visit by Dr. Sara Segati of CESTHA: the animal was disoriented and debilitated.

On the same evening, the turtle was entrusted to the care of the CESTHA Center in Marina di Ravenna to allow it to return to freedom in our sea at the end of the rehabilitation process.
It is important that every sighting of marine animals of protected species in difficulty is reported to the Coast Guard so that the necessary and timely interventions can be implemented.
