Prof. Roberto DeLuca of the Department of Physics ofUniversity of Salerno and the working group dedicated to orientation activities in schools participated, on Friday 24 May 2024, in an orientation teaching activity at the primary class V of the Nicodemi Institute of Fisciano Calvanico, Fisciano complex.
The young students, guided by the class teachers, prepared preliminary activities following the indications of the teachers of the Physics teaching group, Dr. Veruska Lamberti and Naomi Ambrosio. It was a “compass-rule” work as a preliminary approach to then face the final experiment of trapping the light in a reflecting cavity which, depending on the angle of incidence through the hole made in the cavity itself allows to build, through a laser light, some basic geometric figures, such as triangles, squares and so on, through a recursive process. The young students also learned some fundamentals of optics and, in particular, they learned, in a completely qualitative way, about corpuscle wave dualism.
“The experiment was a great success – commented the manager Lucia Reggiani – not only technical but also of enthusiasm and active participation: many little girls and boys, naturally equipped with appropriate protection, who with their small but expert hands directed the laser full of amazement and enthusiasm. An intense moment of laboratory teaching and therefore highly indicative.
I welcome this opportunity to thank Dr. Carlo Mariani, Indire researcher, who has been building, in recent years in Italy, a real awareness of orientation teaching in schools of all levels: it is never too early or too late to motivate yourself and build a conscious future for your life.
