The Colli festival opens, a week of events – Pescara

PESCARA. Having archived the days of the anniversary of the Miracle of the Rain and the celebrations with the relic of Saint Francis, which arrived in Pescara for the first time in early May, the traditional festival of the Hills returns with the exhibition of the Madonna of the Seven Sorrows at the sanctuary, the amusement park rides, stalls and the lottery with important prizes such as a trip for two to the Mediterranean.
From Tuesday to Thursday, previews of the celebration with masses and rosaries at 5.30pm each day. The solemnity of the celebrations will start again from Friday 31 May with the exposition of the Madonna in the basilica and the reflections of Father Leon Di Britto, parish priest in the Hills. In the evening, from 10pm, the Masters concert. Saturday 1st June at 3.30 pm start to Eucharistic Adoration which precedes, from 4.30 pm, the blessing of the sick by Father Guglielmo Alimonti, spiritual son of San Pio da Pietrelcina, accompanied by prayer groups and many pilgrims who also come from outside the region to pray to the icon most loved by the Colli community. At 10pm the Vasco Rossi cover band will perform. Sunday 2 June another highlight of the celebrations with the solemn mass officiated by the archbishop Tommaso Valentinetti and following the procession with the statue of the Madonna along the streets of the area, from the sanctuary following the old road of the Madonna, continuing towards via Valle di Rose, via del Santuario and returning to the basilica. The musical moments are entrusted to the Città di Castel Frentano band. In the evening, from 10pm, there will be a Pooh cover concert at the sports hall. Mass celebrated by Father on Monday 3 June at 6pm Carlo Maria Cristolini, provincial vicar, and to follow, in the evening at 10 pm, the concert of the Gemelli di Guidonia. At 11.45pm the lottery draw and fireworks.
Among the lottery prizes (coupons can still be purchased at the stall in front of the church) are an electric bike, food shopping vouchers and jewellery. The first prize for two people will be a holiday in the Mediterranean.
The amusement park will be spread over two areas, along Strada Vecchia della Madonna and in the Conad area, the former market headquarters. The rides will start running from Tuesday.
On June 4th at 6pm the thanksgiving mass with the faithful in prayer and the repositioning of the statue of the Madonna in the niche will conclude the celebrations organized by the celebrations committee (president Father Leon and vice Giuseppe Troiani) with the patronage of the Municipality of Pescara which has entrusted the coordination of traffic to the municipal police.
