Chiesa Misericordia: one million arrives – Teramo

GIULIANOVA. The historic church of Misericordia, located in the heart of the historic center in Piazza Dante, will receive funding of one million and 100 thousand euros for its restoration. The announcement was made by the governor of the Region Marcus Marsiliowho expressed his satisfaction with the result obtained, the result of a synergy between the State and the Region.
The funding comes from the Ministry of Culture, as part of a broader plan which has allocated 15 million and 485,000 euros for the recovery of 20 places of worship in Abruzzo. The ancient church of Misericordia is among the four sites in the province of Teramo to benefit from this allocation, and boasts the highest contribution, even surpassing those of other churches in the region (it is fourth in the regional ranking). The building has been in a state of deterioration for some time, due to water leaks from the roof and injuries caused by the earthquakes of 2016 and 2017. These problems have made the structure unusable and have compromised its safety. The restoration intervention will therefore be fundamental to recover this important monument of Giulianova’s historical and artistic heritage.
Satisfaction was expressed by the mayor Jwan Costantiniby the councilor for culture Paolo Giorginiby the director of the library and civic museums Sirio Maria Pomante and by the parish priest of San Flaviano Don Enzo Manes. Giorgini defined the financing as “the best possible closure of our first administrative mandate”.(sg)
