Schlein in Prato: “Victory in the first round? We never take anything for granted but we are confident”

“Victory in the first round for Ilaria Bugetti? We never take anything for granted, but we are confident, due to the enthusiasm we breathe among our people who ask to move forward with good government”. This was said by the national secretary of the Democratic Party Elly Schlein, who came to Prato this evening, the last stop of the day on her Tuscan tour. 800 people waited and then listened to her in the gardens of via Marx, the place chosen by the Democratic Party for the visit of the secretary, who came to support Ilaria Bugetti’s electoral campaign and that of the candidates for the European elections (Dario Nardella, Beatrice Covassi, Antonio Mazzeo were present and Teresa Bartoli). Also present was the president of the Tuscany Region Eugenio Giani. “The gardens of Via Carlo Marx were a difficult place, the subject of a redevelopment project thanks also to the collaboration of voluntary associations, a project that I hope will also extend to other parts of the city,” said Bugetti.

The mayor Matteo Biffoni opened the speeches on stage, expressing perhaps the strongest endorsement ever towards Bugetti: “I ask you for a favor, given that you have asked me so many in these 10 years – he said addressing the public -: vote for Ilaria Bugetti. The only vote you can give is for Ilaria Bugetti”. Before Bugetti and Schlein’s speeches, a long round of applause was dedicated to Massimiliano Pescini, regional councilor who passed away at the age of just 49 due to a fulminant illness. “Prato is Tuscany, Prato is the world because our rags go all over the world. Let us never give in to those who want to paint it ugly. Let’s go win together,” Bugetti said from the stage. “Dear Ilaria, we want to see you as mayor of this city,” added Schlein.
