Meloni against La7: “The vote is not decided by the radical chic”

The video clip of Giorgia Meloni for the self-managed spaces of the electoral campaign it becomes a provocation and triggers a response Corrado Formigli. The prime minister is broadcast on La 7 and contests what she defines as “radical chic living rooms”. A scathing video right from the start: “Dear La7 viewers, we haven’t seen each other for a while, but I hope to find you heartened by the averted danger of the authoritarian drift, the collapse of the economy and the isolation of Italy on an international level. While many discussed these ghosts, we worked tirelessly to improve Italy’s conditions.” But it is only the premise of a jab, because after having lamented his absence from the station’s broadcasts, Meloni states: “On the 8th and 9th of June it is not the radical chic salons that are speaking, but the people”. A message that according to La 7 presenter Corrado Formigli “it mocks and insults millions of Italians who watch our network. The prime minister of half the country who declares war on the other half.”

The journalist’s comment appears on his Facebook page, shortly after the prime minister’s video was broadcast. The 5S Vittoria Baldino she follows, attacking the prime minister: “By dint of insulting those she considers to be radical chic salons, she has become radical chic herself.” But the organization manager of FdI Giovanni Donzelli he replies that “Giorgia offers lessons in pluralism on La7 with elegance and friendliness”. And Formigli contests: “You would also like to decide the contents of a message self-managed by Fratelli d’Italia. We are not surprised that she does not understand the irony with which Giorgia joked. We’re just amazed at how they haven’t understood that in this way they’re only helping the Brothers of Italy grow.”

Meanwhile, the network’s news director, Enrico Mentana, tries to latch on to the controversy by relaunching an invitation to the TV challenge between all the leaders: “I welcome the joke about La7 viewers with a smile, if you miss them you will be able to meet them on the most important evening of the electoral campaign, 7 June, given that she was invited like all leaders,” he commented. But during the day, which comes after her exit – always provocative – to launch the TeleMeloni format, the prime minister also appeared on Rai3 from Monica Maggioni as the first guest of a series of interviews with the rules set for the European Championships. Her tones are always dry: she rejects the hypothesis of coalitions with the left, but not alliances with the far right (“I don’t give licenses of unpresentability”). And to those who tie their future to the premiership she replies: if the referendum doesn’t pass “who cares, the Italians will judge me after my 5 years”.
