A physical problem forces Juric to give up Milinkovic-Savic: therefore room between the posts for Gemello, making his third appearance of the season. For the rest, the coach confirms the team that beat Milan 3-1 last Saturday for nine elevenths. In defense there are therefore Tameze and Masina alongside Buongiorno. Rodriguez starts from the bench due to an ankle problem, therefore room for Vojvoda and Bellanova on the sidelines. In the middle of the field there are Linetty and Ilic, with Ricci advanced in the attacking midfield to support the Pellegri-Zapata pair. Gasperini responds with the starting players to those who thought of an Atalanta with a full belly: Lookman, De Ketelaere and Scamacca make up the trident.

The protest does not spare the team and club even in Bergamo. From the five hundred Granata fans who sold out the tickets available in the away section, chants rained down against the club, the team and for the first time also against Juric. On the pitch the Granatas try to start well and in the 10th minute Zapata tries, who stands out from Bellanova’s cross but misses the target. However, the Granata soon find themselves stuck in sterile ball possession which does not create clean scoring opportunities. The Bergamo players are dangerous in the 24th minute, when De Ketelaere sends a shot just wide after an insistent action on the attacking midfield. Atalanta’s lead comes a minute later with Scamacca who receives it, turns around avoiding Buongiorno and strikes Gemello. The Granada reaction was timid and in the 41st minute it was Lookman who sent the ball over from a tight angle, coming close to making it 2-0. The second goal came in the 43rd minute with the complicity of Gemello, who centrally rejects a non-irresistible conclusion from Pasalic, support on the net is child’s play for Lookman. After two minutes of added time, he goes to half-time with the Granata down by two goals and hanging on to the radio for the news coming from Naples, which for the moment is favourable.
