Catania, illegal flea market: sanctions

CATANIA – During the morning of Saturday 25 May, in the district of via San Giuseppe La Renaon the corner of Via Forcile, the agents of the State Police, the Local Police and the veterinary ASP, in joint activity, carried out checks which concerned the second-hand market, which despite being authorized for Sunday, in a manner all illegal, he also settled on Saturday.

The checks aimed at restoring legality were ordered by order of the Police Commissioner of Catania as part of the integrated control plan of the territory, which was created with the aim of preventing and possibly repressing crimes that disturb civil life.

Controls in the market

During street vendor control operationswe read in a note from the Police Headquarters, particular attention was paid to verifying the required Public Security authorizations, as well as the origin of the goods displayed for sale.

During the service there were high administrative sanctions and the seizure reports were filled out, given that some of the retailers subjected to verification were found not to have the required municipal license. Some goods were also found abandoned by people who, upon seeing the police, left them on the ground.

Overall the people checked, despite the adverse weather conditions, there were eighteen. Five people who were charged with the administrative sanction of illegal commercial activity were fined. The goods, subjected to administrative seizure, were collected and transported by the Local Police for safekeeping and subsequent ritual investigations which were promptly initiated.
