what is Translational Medicine

There Translational Medicine represents the trait d’union between clinical activity, research laboratory and society; It is no coincidence that the SSD Translational Medicine has been included within the DAIRI organisation, which has the function of “glue” between Unit Disease and Project Group which, in their areas of competence, bring together the various professionals who carry out clinical and healthcare research, basic research and dissemination of the knowledge acquired through their activities.
The plenary meeting of the SSD Translational Medicine, which took place on 23 April, was a stimulating and productive opportunity for dialogue and discussion. The messages brought by Dr. Valter Alpe and Dr. Antonio Maconi, the great participation and the high number of young people in the audience confirmed thestrategic importance that research activities have in this phase of transformation of our Hospital, now a University Hospital and engaged in the final phase of the process of recognition as a Scientific Institute for Hospitalization and Care. We are perfectly aware that the most important challenge will therefore become maintaining the very high levels of clinical care, teaching and research required. It will therefore become increasingly important to act with a team spirit, sharing paths, contaminating ideas and merging skills to achieve growth for all groups in a virtuous and inclusive process.
I guarantee you the full commitment of the SSD Translational Medicine to exercise the role of facilitator with ever greater incisiveness to put all groups in the best conditions to express their potential.

Luigi Mario Castello, Head of SSD Translational Medicine DAIRI
