Privatization of Poste Italiane, Natale and Ziglioli: “A wicked choice that must be stopped immediately”

“As the Ligurian Democratic Party we share and support the motivations of the unions and workers of the Italian Post Office who have mobilized and taken to the streets to oppose the Meloni Government’s plan to privatize the company and cuts to staff.

The service offered by Poste Italiane in the area is fundamental for all citizens, especially for those who are older and for those who live in small towns. The post offices in the villages and in the internal areas represent a vital and social garrison, which cannot and must not be shut down. Liguria, due to its territorial composition, risks paying a high price for any cuts that would fall on the shoulders of the Ligurians, once again deprived of an essential service.

We believe this wicked privatization plan is a harmful choice for our community and for the workers of Poste Italiane. As the Democratic Party we will work to counter it and will activate a mobilization campaign throughout the territory. We are faced with yet another slap from the Meloni Government on essential services. A choice that could seriously affect our region, thanks to a local centre-right that is immobile and incapable of defending the needs and requirements of Ligurian citizens.

We hope that every form of privatization will stop as soon as possible and that we will look at the citizens and their needs and not at the interests of a few, as this centre-right in the Region and in the government continues to do. Our solidarity and closeness to the workers.”
