Continuing to increase the percentage of separate waste collection, and at the same time the correctness of waste disposal by citizens, is a fundamental step in increasing subsequent effective recycling.

In the 104 Municipalities that make up the Southern Tuscany Area, where Sei Toscana operates as the sole manager of urban hygiene services, during 2023 it is estimated that the average percentage of separate waste collection will be around 58.51% (+ 3.12% compared to the 2022 figure, compared to a regional average of 65.68%) with a continuous increase also underway in these first months of 2024.

A context in which the Municipality of Arezzo stands out, which through Sei Toscana has initiated in recent years the reorganization of the waste collection service with a dual objective: to increase the quantity and quality of waste separation, along a path which has led in recent years to «an increase of 15% and a 60% increase recorded last April, and guarantee urban decorum and liveability of the city», as Sei Toscana explains.

«Now – continues the sole manager – the completion of the transformation in the industrial areas of the city is coming to a head: after a further assessment of needs, information material on the collection service available to them has been delivered to each non-domestic user. In these days, all current roadside stations will be progressively removed, after which the aforementioned users will have to use exclusively the service dedicated to them, using what was delivered and according to the disposal calendar for each type of waste”.
