Giuseppe Capone

The sentence imposed on the 23-year-old, 18 at the time of the events, is 4 yearswho hit with the car and killed ad Aversa a young local doctor, Giuseppe Capone, 32 years old. The defendant also had his driving license suspended for 4 years.

The eighteen-year-old was traveling in a Mini Cooper: the fatal impact occurred on 7 January 2019 around 8.30 pm near the pedestrian crossing, while the victim was returning home from the gym. Unfortunately, the impact was lethal and the rescue efforts were of no avail.

The victim’s family are very disappointed with the verdict. Capone’s mother, professor Sandra Monti, addressed the deputy of the Greens-Left alliance Francesco Emilio Borrelli: “The trial against the murderer of my son Giuseppe has concluded. 4 years, plus 4 years of license suspension. Very disappointed because neither the aggravating speed nor the failure to assist were given.”

“While the massacre of road victims continues inexorably, negligible sentences are being inflicted on criminals, thugs, murderers and hijackers who destroy innocent victims. On the other hand, this trial had already started badly with a very small request for a sentence, which has now been further reduced. What message do you want to send to the families of the victims, who will never truly have justice? And what about the reckless and criminals who run around like crazy, who always almost get away with it?” This is Borrelli’s comment.
