Edison will illuminate Manfredonia

The decision of the Extraordinary Commissioner which puts an end to one of the bad stories of the past municipal administration

It will therefore be the joint venture between Edison Next Government srl and Alleanza spa that will ensure public lighting in Manfredonia. The Extraordinary Commissioner of the Municipality, Rachele Grandolfo, has decided to award the contract to Edison, which will last until 2033, for the electricity supply service, the management exercise, the ordinary maintenance and all the services connected to the power plants. public lighting in Manfredonia.

THE CHOICE of Edison Next Government (the same one made in Foggia) was made through adhesion to the Consip Luce 4 agreement due to the will of the Extraordinary Commissioner, to modernize the lighting system and reduce management costs thanks to the installation of new systems LED. Consip SpA is the national purchasing centre, entirely owned by the Ministry of Economy and Finance, which offers e-procurement tools and solutions for the digitalisation of purchasing by administrations and businesses.

THE FEE for the electricity service for the nine years amounts to 10,940,480.20 euros, plus 2,406,905.64 euros for VAT, with a total annual fee of 1,483,042.87 euros including VAT. These amounts include investments for energy efficiency equal to 2,790,297.64 euros and extraordinary maintenance interventions for 1,085,652.34 euros, all to be carried out in the first year of management. The agreement awarded to the Edison-Atlantic ATI provides for an additional 1,094,048.02 euros for extraordinary maintenance work that the administration may request during the nine years, an amount that will be included in the budget on condition that the necessary funds are found.

THE ECONOMY for the municipality of Manfredonia with the new agreement entails a saving compared to the current expenditure of just under one and a half million euros in nine years, equal to 124,957.13 euros per year. The objective is to guarantee energy savings of 21.25 percent equivalent to €996,301.14 kWh, through the new LED lighting systems. Any fluctuations, increasing or decreasing depending on the higher or lower cost of electricity over the nine years, will be borne by the administration and included in the annual price review.

THE NEW management of public lighting approved by Extraordinary Commissioner Grandolfo represents a substantial turning point from both a technical and economic point of view. And above all it sweeps away all the opaque contrasts that characterized the past Rotice administration not only for what was defined as the “Engie affair” which caused a bitter conflict between the then mayor Rotice and the councilor Salvemini, each sponsoring a different company to which awarding the millionaire contract, which ended with the expulsion of the councilor (who later ended up under house arrest as part of the “Hands off” judicial investigation) and the blocking of the measure. However, that was the first of the countless shocks that characterized the past council, which was cut short after less than two years and for whose renewal the city is going to vote next June.
