Guide to voting in the Bergamo area, follow the TV specials here

There are 323 candidates in the province of Bergamo running for the mayor’s seat in the 164 municipalities called for council renewal in the elections of next 8 and 9 June. There are 351 lists filed: the numbers show a decrease in the number of candidates compared to five years ago, when however two more Municipalities went to the vote.

Given this decline, it is important to note that in all the localities involved in this round there is at least one candidate to hold the position of mayor (this was not the case in 2019, when in more than one case no one had presented ). There are 46 Municipalities with a single list in the running. Even the main cities of Bergamo have seen a decrease in the lists: on the last occasion, Bergamo, Albino, Dalmine, Romano and Seriate had 19 mayoral candidates, which today are 14 (the only one of these administrations to see an increase in candidates is Albino, which passed two to three). Numerous candidates are under the age of thirty. 63 candidates, equal to 19% of the total. Only three Municipalities potentially involved in the run-off if none of the candidates reach 50% +1 of the votes in the first round: Bergamo, Romano, Albino, where there are more than two aspirants for the position of Mayor.
