Three years after the only and last time of the “Mille Miglia” in Prato, when there was a huge crowd to greet the approximately 500 cars present, the most beautiful race in the world will return to these parts. The passage is scheduled for June 14th, as part of the fourth stage, the one that will bring the vintage cars from Rome to Bologna. The caravan will enter the province from Carmignano, at Il Pinone, and then pass through Poggio a Caiano and via Roma, until turning onto the industrial axis. Here the participants will enter via Berlinguer, pass in front of the Pecci Museum and turn into via Ferrucci along the preferential lane. From here there will be a landing in Piazza San Marco and Viale Piave for the time control near the Emperor’s Castle. The first landing, that of the 120 Ferraris of the Tribute 1000 Miglia, at the head of the convoy, is expected around 5.15pm. That of the 420 historic cars, together with the full electric ones of the Mille Miglia Green, the supercars, the modern hypercars of the Mille Miglia Experience and the self-driving car of the Milan Polytechnic is scheduled for around 6.30 pm.

After passing through the Emperor’s Castle, there will be a stamp check in Piazza del Comune, then the cars will also cross Piazza del Duomo for the first time. Following via Muzzi, Porta Pistoiese with the welcome of the Chinese community, via Bologna and the entrance to the avenue of the Fabbricone Storico which will tell the story of the textile tradition of the district. The final part will see the cars circulate along Ponte Datini, viale Borgovalsugana, via Firenze and head to the provincial border with Calenzano. In total, approximately 1,110 cars will pass through Prato, including those competing and those linked to the organizing committee.

“I am grateful to all those who are here today and who for the second time have made it possible to organize the passage of the 1000 Miglia through our city – the comment of Matteo Biffoni – It is a city festival which represents the most beautiful race of the world and which brings with it passion, interest and desire to collaborate. We will do our best to ensure that everything goes in the best possible way, because we want Prato to leave a good memory in all the motorists who pass through it, with the hope that in the future it will remain a point of reference for the passage of the race” .

A race that this year brings with it a significant innovation: the compensation of polluting emissions through a carbon neutrality project. The idea sees Aci Prato as the protagonist, which thanks to the contribution of its technicians calculated the impact of the event, in particular in terms of the quantity of carbon dioxide emitted. And then, in agreement with the municipal administration, it will provide planting and green actions to balance the emissions balance.

“In the city there is great enthusiasm around the passage of the Mille Miglia – states the president of Aci Prato, Federico Mazzoni – The route is spectacular, the cars that will pass through Prato will be truly unique pieces, and the organizing committee he is studying every little detail to make the ride unforgettable. As Automobile Club Prato we also want to send a message of attention to the environment and confirm the philosophy of attention to the impact of our events on the territory. A joint journey with the Municipality, with which we found total collaboration”.
