It’s from this morninghe news of recent acts of vandalism that occurred in the bathrooms of the Trento Economics department. To report the matter, a note from the guys from Azione Universitaria Trento.

“The right to freedom of thought is a fundamental pillar for each of us, which should be exercised in total freedom and without fear of negative consequences. This right allows us to freely share our beliefs and ideas, contributing to open and productive debate within our society.

It is important, however, to keep in mind that real freedom of thought takes the form of mutual respect and dialogue, rather than destructive behavior. Vandalism, in addition to causing damage to public and private property, alters the meaning of the ideal that it wants to communicate.

The use of violence or the commission of destructive acts undermines our integrity and risks alienating those who might be supporters of dialogue. Positive change is achieved through persuasion, education and active engagement, not through coercion or devastation.” we read in the note sent this morning.

“As a student association we aim to listen to others, value their points of view and seek a basis for agreement, whilst maintaining our ideals. Supporting freedom of thought also involves awareness and responsibility. Refraining from vandalism not only protects the student community, but also highlights the solidity of our ideas and our dedication to respectful and productive dialogue. It is only through these principles that we can build the university that University Action aspires to. We want to express our closeness and support to the students and to the Dean of the Department of Economics.” concludes the note.
