The Cremona Host Lions Club celebrated its Charter, which was also attended by Mirella Marussich, just elected 2nd Vice Governor of district 108 Ib3, who thanked the members for the support received, and Riccardo Chiarvetto, Leo district president.

President Fabio Venturini introduced the meeting as follows: “We are celebrating the 67th birthday of our club born from the vision of the founding members who believed in the power of altruistic service to create a positive impact in our community through dedicated projects. We inherited commitment and dedication from them. We therefore have the honor and moral obligation to carry forward those principles with pride and responsibility. With these motivations I wanted to invite the associations in which we believe and which we want to support to contribute to the continuation of their voluntary activities”.

The president’s words were followed by those of the representatives of the associations. Mirella Marussich, president of the Cremonese Diabetics Association: “I thank all of you friends for your generous donation and for your sensitivity towards the pathology. Since 1982, our association has been dealing with all those who directly or indirectly experience diabetes, promoting initiatives to raise public awareness of this pathology which has become a health emergency for some years now. Your contribution is “oxygen” for us, it is life!

Renata Patria, president of UNITRE – University of the Third Age and Free Time L. Grande: “Our mission is to operate mainly for the education and training of people of the so-called third age to keep alive the cultural interests of the increasingly large audience of seniors. I express great gratitude to the Cremona Host: we live thanks also to your support”.

Marco Riccardo Gamba, vice-president, and Lucia Maccagni, councilor of the Dal Naso al Cuore Association, illustrated their work, with children and the elderly, in the hospital, in Cremona Solidale and in some condominiums, specifying that the contribution will be used to specialist training courses. “Seeing happiness in the eyes of children and the elderly is and will be our happiness”, with these words they closed their speech.

It was then the turn of the president of the National Alpine Association – sec. Cremona and Mantua Riccardo Panada: “For us your help is enormous because when there is need they call us Alpine troops whose motto is “We honor our fallen for our country by helping the living” and we do it with civil protection. Your help allows us to continue our business, I will never stop thanking you!”.

Gianfranco Bonazzoli, president of the Free Time Donors Association, declared: “We immediately give what the ASL promises to the patient, from wheelchairs to beds, from crutches to walkers. We give everything you need on free loan for use. Normally we cover 100% of needs, we are 40 volunteers, our strength is in knowing how to modify and adapt aids to patients. We will use your precious contribution to purchase a woodworking machine to be able to build slides to overcome obstacles.”

The evening ended with a great applause from the members to the representatives of the associations for their very important commitment in the world of volunteering and with the words of president Venturini: “On evenings like this you understand why you are a Lions and why you do it”.
