Accident between two trucks and maintenance work on the Palermo-Mazara: traffic blocked for hours

An accident and some maintenance interventions sent traffic on the Palermo-Mazara del Vallo motorway, towards Trapani, into a tailspin. Two heavy vehicles were involved in a collision: it happened shortly before the junction for Tommaso Natale, where the arrival of Anas men and traffic police officers was necessary.

Following the accident, long queues formed and motorists remained stuck in traffic starting from the Via Belgio roundabout, leaving the city. The queue lasted more than an hour and a half, until the vehicles were removed from the road. No injuries were reported, but investigations are underway to reconstruct the dynamics of the impact.

However, traffic did not return to being completely smooth: shortly afterwards, in fact, maintenance work began between kilometer 1.219 after the Capaci-Isola delle Femmine junction and shortly before the Carini junction, still in the direction of Trapani and traffic has once again suffered heavy slowdowns.

Only a few days ago another accident had caused serious repercussions on the traffic of the motorway artery: a chain collision inside the tunnel between Isola delle Femmine and Capaci created kilometre-long queues. In that case, dozens of motorists remained bottled up for more than three hours before being able to continue driving normally.
