G7 in Brindisi, all bans in the Salento airport area

BARI – The Municipality of Brindisi today issued five ordinances regarding transit and parking bans in view of the events linked to the G7, which will be held in Borgo Egnazia on the Fasano coast from 13 to 15 June. The city of Brindisi will be at the center of attention not only for the official dinner which will be held on 13 June in the Castello Svevo, in the presence, among others, of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, but also for the presence of the airport, which will be functional for the arrival of some of the world leaders and delegations.

One of the five ordinances concerns the areas surrounding Brindisi airport.

From June 11th to 1pm on June 16th, Transit and parking will be prohibited on the road leading to the Church of Santa Maria del Casale, on the stretch of road with access from via Contrada Baroncino, between the Bms P8 and Saba P9 car parks, adjacent to the airport.

Furthermore, on June 13th from 07:00 “until the needs cease”pedestrian transit will be prohibited at the Via Appia underpass (only rail transit permitted).

From 12 June, however, parking and stopping will be prohibited in some areas of the center of Brindisi, a short distance from the Castello Svevo. These areas include Via Carmine, from the intersection of Via Giordano Bruno to Via Cristoforo Colombo and Piazzale Lenio Flacco. Furthermore, from 07:00 on 13 June until “requirements cease”, the suspension and diversion of the public transport service (Bus-Taxi-Media/Long Distance) will be in force along the road arteries involved in the main and alternative itineraries intended for to the mobility of delegations, as well as along the urban road axes included in the urban security area.

Citizens and visitors are invited to respect these provisions in order to ensure the safety and flow of traffic during the G7.
