New plan to reduce healthcare waiting lists in Umbria
The President of Umbria, Donatella Tesei, announced the launch of a new plan to reduce waiting lists for healthcare services in the region. This plan follows a series of extraordinary interventions which have made it possible to dispose of around 80 thousand benefits accumulated during the post-COVID period.
The plan includes two strategies main: on the one hand, the increase in internal healthcare services through additional paid services to public healthcare personnel; on the other, the reduction of waiting lists thanks to the contribution of affiliated structures, without additional costs for citizens.
Despite the system healthcare Umbrian public has almost returned to pre-pandemic productivity levels (with a decrease of 11%), the demand for healthcare services has undergone a significant increase. To effectively respond to citizens’ needs, the plan pays particular attention to three sectors: gastroenterology, ophthalmology and dermatology.
Planning for this intervention it is the result of an in-depth discussion with various professional figures in the healthcare sector, including general practitioners, public and private pharmacists, representatives of medical specialists and healthcare and non-healthcare personnel. Only coordinated action with the entire Umbrian healthcare system can lead to a structural improvement of a problem that affects the entire country.
To ensure the effectiveness of the plan, the first results they will be analyzed within one month of the start of the initiative. This monitoring will allow the impact of the measures adopted to be assessed and any corrections to be made to further improve the service.
The Umbria Region does engage therefore to respond to the growing healthcare needs of the population, trying to offer an efficient and timely service, and to improve the quality of life of its citizens through a more responsive and accessible healthcare system.
